Things to do in Austin this weekend.

A short, curated set for August 7 to 9: what is actually worth leaving the house for, picked and verified. Not a scraped calendar.

    Kayak Trash Cleanup

Austin Rowing Club · 9:00 AM

This kayak trash cleanup with The Trail Conservancy is the one I’d sign up for, launching from the Austin Rowing Club to help keep the Butler Trail waters clean. I’d get there early to grab a boat, and I’d bring sun protection for the August afternoon on the water.

Second Saturdays Are for Families You’ve Got Mail

    Laguna Gloria · 10:00 AM

The one I’d catch for a low-key family afternoon is Second Saturdays at Laguna Gloria, where kids can add to the “Dear Me” community art quilt and write letters with invisible ink. I’d get there early since the stamps only last while supplies do.

August 2026 Night Sky Explorer Patch Program

Mansfield Dam Park · 8:30 PM

The one I’d catch for a low-key night out is the Night Sky Explorer Patch Program at Mansfield Dam Park, where you can learn to use a telescope, spot constellations, and hear about nocturnal wildlife and light pollution. It runs about two hours starting near sunset, and registration is required, so I’d sign up ahead to reserve a spot.

Sunday · August 9

    FREE SOCCER CAMP

    12:00 AM

This free three-day clinic for kids ages 6 to 13 is the one I’d flag for parents, running August 9 through 11 at the Field of Dreams out in Bee Cave. It’s run by LTHS Varsity players, so I’d sign up early since a no-cost camp tends to fill fast.

  2. 08

    Paddle for Puppies

    Rowing Dock · 7:00 AM

    Details & tickets →
  3. 09

Cluckin' Bingo at The All Good

The All Good · 4:00 PM

The one I’d catch out in Cedar Park is Cluckin’ Bingo at The All Good, where a live chicken picks the winning square and half the pot goes to Dell Children’s Medical. Squares run $2 each, so I’d bring a few singles and let Cade Baccus handle the soundtrack. Family-friendly and easy to talk yourself into.
