What do you make or do that a neighbour would be surprised is happening here?

“We run a self-capture portrait studio, which means there’s actually no photographer in the room with you. Our camera is hidden behind a two-way mirror, and you take your own photos using a small remote while seeing yourself in the mirror. You get the professional camera and lighting setup of a portrait studio, but the experience itself is completely private. People come in for everything from headshots and personal branding to birthdays, date nights, family photos, bachelorette parties and sometimes just because they want great photos of themselves. We typically deliver your full photo gallery in 2 hours or less!”

What brought you to open where you did, and what is different now?

“South 1st is full of so many of our favorite Austin spots, and we loved the idea of opening somewhere that already felt creative, local, and distinctly Austin. We wanted Reflect to be somewhere you could make part of a day out, not just a place you drive to for an appointment and leave. Now, behind our pretty unassuming storefront are two fully equipped self-portrait studios where people are coming in for date nights, birthdays, family photos, headshots, creative shoots, and everything in between. It’s been really fun adding something completely different to the mix on South 1st.”

One other Austin place near you that you send people to?

“Once Over Coffee! They’re literally our next-door neighbors, and we love sending people over before or after their session. They have a great patio tucked away behind the shop, so it’s an easy way to grab a coffee and hang out for a bit.”
